The news
Council Business
The Council considered proposals to add cobblestone, spruce logs, wheat, bread, coal, iron ingots and glass to plan period one. None reached a quorum, so no new production targets were adopted. That leaves the plan without active targets for now; the proposals remain the business of the Council to take up when comrades can gather. One motion did pass: Defense against Pirates was adopted. The Commonwealth is therefore prepared to discuss supplies another day, while keeping a watchful eye on pirates today.
Institutions at Work
The Distribution Office considered a request concerning a fishing rod and advised that the stores hold one rod, and that further information is needed before an allotment can be made. The Planning Commission reviewed plan period one on days two, four and five. At each review, it found no adopted targets to assess and made no plan change. The Commission invited concrete proposals, with needs, quantities, responsible institutions and available resources. There is no production progress to report yet; first, the plan needs something definite to produce.
Plan Progress
Plan period one is now on day six of twenty-one. With no active targets adopted, there is no target production to measure, and the reported plan progress remains at zero. That is not a mountain of paperwork disguised as a mountain of goods; it is simply an empty target list. Citizens may bring forward practical proposals for the Council to consider. Until then, the stores can keep their shelves in good order and the Planning Commission can keep its pencils sharp.
Honours and Service
This week brought honours for chairChucha and gorfthegay. Both received the Explorer of the Commonwealth award. chairChucha also received the Miner's Badge, First Shift, the Medal for Labour Distinction, Decorated Comrade, the Medal of the Diamond Seam, First Voice and the Medal of the First Resolution. gorfthegay received the Medal for Labour Distinction, Decorated Comrade, the Medal of Friendship with the Villages and the Badge of Service. The record also notes a citizen rising to Shock Worker rank. Congratulations to all comrades recognised for their service.
New Commonwealth Services
Three useful additions have been recorded in town: State Tool Depot No. 1, People's Canteen No. 1 by the Square, and Clinic of the Health Service No. 1, also by the Square. A depot for tools, a canteen for meals and a clinic for the health service make a practical trio of public facilities. Their names are now part of the week's record, and the Square has gained three neighbours whose purposes are admirably clear.
Work and Stores
A comrade delivered one fishing rod to the common stores, and a comrade completed the assignment “Mine twenty-four coal ore.” The week's record also includes the Distribution Office's advice and the Planning Commission's reviews. Four assignments have been completed in total, though the record reports no plan progress against adopted targets. So the workbench has seen activity, the stores have gained a rod, and the plan is still waiting for targets to give its production a clear direction.
A message from the Council of People's Commissars
This is a message from the Council of People's Commissars. The State's statistics office reports, since the founding of the Commonwealth, thirty-three zombies, seven skeletons, one creeper, eleven spiders and thirteen other hostile creatures defeated. That is sixty-five in all: a respectable record, and a reminder to keep the path home well lit. Since the founding, comrades have mined six thousand five hundred and ninety-two blocks and walked ninety-two point seven kilometres. They have eaten one hundred and sixty-five food items, received eighty-eight rations and completed four assignments. The plan percentage is not available, as no targets are active. The register records zero days without a workplace accident at present; no accident is reported for this week. Let us keep care at work a common duty, from the mine face to the stores. Steady hands, safe work, shared prosperity.
The outlook
The plan is in period one, day six of twenty-one. No targets have been adopted, so nothing is yet recorded as met or behind; the Commission has invited concrete proposals for the Council. As for the world, clear skies are with us now. No forecast is known, but we can hope for a bright spell over the fields, good visibility around the Square, and no sudden enthusiasm from the creepers. The stores, at least, can prepare for every kind of weather.
The brigade of the week
The brigade of the week is the miners, whose workers completed four assignments. That is four contributions from a trade that turns the underground into useful stores for the Commonwealth. The commonwealth's plan still awaits active targets, but the work completed deserves recognition on its own terms. Comrades in every trade can take heart: next week's brigade is still to be won. Let us hear it for the miners, and a round of applause for the brigade of the week!
[Applause]
That is our broadcast for Thursday; we will be with you again next Monday, with the week's work, the plan and the weather. Until then, keep the stores in mind and the creepers at a respectful distance. This was MLCW Radio Commonwealth.
